If you’re reading this, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
I’m not a guru, “influencer”, Olympian, weightlifting champion, or anything like that. I’m just a guy that wants to rediscover the benefits of weightlifting after a layoff of several years.
During my early 30’s, I hit PR’s (personal records) for every major lift, thanks to Jim Wendler’s 5/3/1 program. Unfortunately, a few injuries derailed my progress, and I haven’t quite regained any sort of consistency. While I want to regain the “glory” of yesteryear, I don’t want injuries to crop up. If you’re still reading, I’m going to assume that you’re also hoping to avoid injuries.
I’m hoping to help readers accomplish the following with this blog:
- Lift smarter and strategically to avoid injuries
- Provide expert insights from credible sources
- Increase longevity
- Improve quality of life
- Develop a sustainable strength training program
If you happened to frequent forums on sites like Myfitnesspal or BodyBuilding.com over the last decade or so, you’ll see endless advice to newbies to “lift heavy” or “lift heavy things”. Here’s the thing – you won’t be lifting heavy when you’re sitting in an orthopedic surgeon’s office waiting for a consult!
